In March, several industry analysts and experts concluded that the supply bottlenecks of many technical products (graphics cards, processors, consoles, etc.) will probably continue until 2022. The President and CEO of the European Chip manufacturer Stmicroelectronics came in the recent conversation with Reuters.com (via pcgamer.com) to an even more pessimistic assessment:
A return "to a normal situation" is likely to enter Jean-Marc Chery "not before the first half of 2023". With the "normal situation" regular chip holdings are meant - and an average delay of around three months to recover components. The improvements in the delivery situation will gradually show itself during the year 2022 and finally balancing itself in the first half of 2023.
Chery speaks overall of a "global shift" of the situation as the industry soon e.g. would have been waiting for a new operating system of Microsoft to boost demand for new computers.
