Herbert becomes new basketball

Rödl and the German basketball federal government had separately separated after participation in the Olympic Games in the summer. Earlier before, DBB had dealt with potential successors. Now the search is completed. The perspectives in German basketball are great, Herbert said at his idea on Monday. It is now about meeting the team as quickly as possible, to build connections and to get a clear commitment to the DBB selection from players.

Herbert, who receives a two-year contract with extension option, is anything but a blank sheet in Germany. The 62-year-old worked as a coach in Würzburg, Frankfurt and Berlin. It was crowned his second term in the main metropolis (2013-2019) with the profit of the FIBA ​​Europe Cup 2016. In the same year, the Canadian was also elected to the coach of the year in the BBL.

In 2019 he left Frankfurt to become part of the trainer team of the national team of his homeland. In parallel, he also worked with the Russian first division Saratov. Now he returns to Germany. With the DBB selection Herbert will deny the home EM next year, among other things, in which Germany will be part-host with the locations Cologne and Berlin.
